NETIQUETTE


What is netiquette?
In morphology "Netiquette" is called blending because it come from the word “network” and “etiquette”. It means the way we behave or act to another of internet user. BBC also state that netiquette is respecting other users’ views and displaying common courtesy when posting your views to online discussion groups(http://www.bbc.co.uk). 

Why is netiquette important?
Internet is not only place for searching information but also for interact with all of people in the world. In this era, internet offer many social networking like Facebook, twitter, Whatapps, WeChat and so on. We also know that every people have their own culture, if we don’t know about their culture, we can misunderstanding or feel offense to that people. Moreover, beginner of internet user often makes some mistake in communicating with other because they don’t know the rule of netiquette.  So, we need a set of rule to organize how we communicate with people on the internet in order to make feel comfort and enjoy using internet.

Simple Rules of Netiquette:
  1. Make your messages easier to read by making your paragraphs short and to the point.
  2. TYPING IN ALL CAPS IS CONSIDERED SHOUTING ON THE INTERNET. 
  3. Messages in all lowercase letters can be difficult to read, instead, use normal capitalization.
  4. *Asterisks* surrounding a word can be used to make a stronger point.
  5. Use the underscore symbol before and after the title of a book, (i.e., _Green Eggs and Ham_ )
  6. Be careful when using sarcasm and humor. Without face to face communications your joke may be viewed as criticism. When being humorous, use emoticons to express humor. (tilt your head to the left to see the emoticon smile)    :-) = happy face for humor
  7. Never give your user ID or password to another person. System administrators that need to access your account for maintenance or to correct problems will have full privileges to your account.
